Jean Paul LeMieux: His Canada by Francine Brousseau, X

Jean Paul LeMieux: His Canada by Francine Brousseau, X
In 1982 the Canadian painter Jean Paul Lemieux was commissioned to create twelve paintings -- representing each Canadian province and territory -- to illustrate the stamps in the 1984 Canada Day series. In Jean Paul Lemieux: His Canada, Francine Brousseau looks at each painting in detail to show how Lemieux articulated his vision of Canada. She explores how the themes of time and space are expressed, describes the treatment of human figures, examines the points of view selected to illustrate the various locations, and points out the aesthetic significance of the works.

Proposals for new Canadian provinces and territories - Since Canadian Confederation in 1867, there have been several Proposals for new Canadian provinces and territories. The Constitution of Canada requires an amendment for the creation of a new province but the creation of a new territory requires only an act of Parliament; therefore it is easier to create a territory than a province.
